Provided by Ken Krueger, M.Ed.
Consultant / Counselor / Tutor

After attending Duke University on a full athletic grant-in-aid scholarship for football, and graduating in 1972 with B.A. double major degrees in Psychology and Economics, I later received my M.Ed. degree, specializing in Guidance and Counseling. The next 35+ years were spent in high schools in Ohio and Arizona as a teacher of math, economics, and psychology and as a guidance counselor and coach.

In 1998 I started a business called Educational Guidance Services, and now work with students and their parents from 95 elementary schools, high schools, and colleges as an educational consultant, college planner, and standardized test tutor for the SAT I, SAT II, PSAT, ACT and HSPT. clients' elementary and secondary schools.

Students in my program learn how to excel and get to the next level in their test-taking abilities. They do this by taking practice tests, reducing test anxiety, developing positive thinking techniques, reviewing guessing and timing strategies, and avoiding common testing errors. My students have experienced increases in their SAT scores from earlier PSAT and SAT tests of 100 to 400 points! HSPT placement success for 8th graders who have used my program is 93% over the past six years. Course length varies from student to student depending on the individual's needs and goals. Limited college planning services are also available. For more extensive college planning, I highly recommend college planner David Stoffer's professional services. See his link on my Online Resources page.

Through the years I have worked with thousands of students and their parents in the college admissions, financial aid, and testing process. I have found that many are confused, frustrated, intimidated and even frightened by this process. The purpose of this Website is to quell your fears, frustration and confusion. The question that needs to be answered is: Where do I start, and how do I get there?
  • This website is a compilation of first hand experiences, helpful tips, and sources for information that will aid you in your quest to answer that question. It provides a synopsis of how to get through the rigorous and tedious process of college admissions, testing, and financial aid.
  • My goal is to empower you with information to help you feel that you are in control of the processes of college admissions, financial aid, and testing, and not the other way around.
  • There are over 3600 colleges nationally and no single college is the only perfect match for you or your student. There are several perfect matches that can be found if you do your homework.
