Summer 2012 Refresher Tutoring Sessions

With Mr. Ken Krueger, M.Ed.

The following four-week courses will begin the week of June 3rd and end on June 30th. Classes will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1:30-3:00, and at 3:00-4:30. Classes also will be offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 1:30-3:00, and again at 3:00-4:30. All classes are geared to provide extended practice for the HSPT, PSAT, SAT, and high school math. (Please see the class list below.)

A second cycle of summer school classes will be held for 4 weeks, with the same weekly schedule, running the week of July 1st through July 28th.

Students who participate in summer classes have an edge over students who wait until the fall to start their prep. Consider it this way: students who do summer prep are on “square 1” and move onto “square 2” in the fall, while students who begin in the fall are on “square 1” with regards to their test prep proficiency. Highly recommended – very small group format.

Cost for this program is $135 per week or $500 if paid in full (a $40 discount). All materials are included. Please contact Ken any time with questions.

1. HSPT Math and Grammar Course: Designed to help students in grades 7-8 prepare for the Catholic High School Entrance Exam given in January. There will be 10 sessions providing tips and strategies, math practice, and grammar practice from realistic test resource books. Since 1998, students taking our course have achieved a 93% placement rate into the Catholic high school of their choice.

2. PSAT Math, Critical Reading, and Writing Skills Course: Designed for students in grades 10-11 who will be taking PSAT as a sophomore or junior at their respective high schools. There will be 10 sessions covering arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and other math topics needed for the PSAT. Also, equal time will be spent on the writing skills multiple choice questions that comprise one-third of the overall PSAT score, sentence completion questions, and short reading passage questions.
